Photos: Blood Moon of October 8, 2014

A beautiful total lunar eclipse of October 8, 2014

On Wednesday morning, North America was treated to the second lunar eclipse of 2014. Just before 6:30 a.m. EDT, the moon was completely covered by Earth's shadow, turning it a brilliant shade of red.

Residents pointed their cameras to the sky in hopes of getting the perfect Blood Moon shot, and many were successful. Here are some of our favorites from this special celestial event.
